Igreja da Transfiguração

Por dezesseis anos, servi como gerente de projeto para a Igreja da Transfiguração em Orleans, Massachusetts. Church of the Transfiguration

For sixteen years, I have served as project manager for the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans Massachusetts. In 1994 our building committee determined to build a basilican style church of dimensional stone, with monumental limestone columns and capitals. At the same time, we determined that the art in the building would be part of the building itself. This led to the design of sculpted stone capitals, door lintels, and stone liturgical furniture, such as the altar. In 1998, after along search for a capable stone sculptor, we found Régis Demange, a talented and accomplished native of France, then living in California. Mr. Demange agreed to move to Massachusetts, where he commenced the monumental task of completing over 200 stone sculptures, over 100 of which were complete in time Among other works, his sculptures include two 17,000 pound limestone lintels over the main doors, and sixty fully sculpted stone capitals. He won the admiration of other artists working on the building, from the bronze sculptor to the mosaicists, for completing this enormous task in so little time for the dedication of the church in 2000. He scrupulously held to a demanding installation schedule, and cooperated with numerous artists in the process, giving life and vitality to the often complex design drawings. I would recommend Mr. Demange without hesitation as a sculptor who will bring to your project not only deep devotion to his work, but superior imagination and great skill.
